Product Overview

While cellular connectivity offers a very good balance between transmission costs and availability across all
continents, it requires a SIM card to get access to the local network at your deployment location. The need for the
user to source a SIM card used to be the only aspect that kept Aquatic Sensors equipment from being truly seamless.

Pricing Structure

Credit for your Global SIM card is purchased upfront in batches of €100, which is typically sufficient for a period of 1 to 12 years of non-stop operation (see Monthly Rates section for details). At the end of every month, your actual usage is subtracted from the credit. By the time you run out of credit, the next batch can be purchased.

Coverage

Obscape’s Global SIM provider has roaming agreements with 682 networks across the globe. Virtually all countries are represented, notable exceptions being Syria, Liberia, Benin, Angola, and Libya (refer to map).
One special roaming partner in the network is Tampnet. It maintains a 4G network across the North Sea and in the northern regions of the Gulf of Mexico. This provides Obscape’s Global SIM users a unique opportunity to connect their offshore Obscape buoys to 4G instead of the satellite network and save significantly on transmission costs.

Monthly Rates

Monthly rates vary based on bundle size and zone. All countries covered by the network1 are divided into 2 zones, Zone 1 and Zone 2. Zone 2 includes a limited number of countries2, while all other countries are included in Zone 1. Several bundle sizes are available to cover the different message sizes and posting frequencies of Obscape devices:
